Public Law Litigation
Our role as trusted advisors and counsel for a
wide range of public bodies allows us to understand the pressures
and challenges that such bodies face in a dispute. We have
considerable experience working within the broader political
context in which disputes often arise involving public
bodies.
We counsel central government departments and
agencies, local government authorities and urban development
corporations, as well as multiple private sector clients in key
regulated industries including rail, banking, gas and
electricity. For industry associations and those that
frequently interact with the major players in the regulated
industries, including major suppliers, we provide strategies for
meeting the unique requirements of public procurements.
For both public sector clients and
contractors, we serve as counsel in contracting disputes, including
defending public authorities when a procurement process faces a
legal challenge. Our work for clients also encompasses
disputes relating to contract performance, contract award
controversies (bid protests), regulatory and accounting issues,
civil and criminal False Claims Act investigations and litigation,
and disputes between prime and subcontractors.
We represent clients before federal trial and
appellate courts, agency boards of contract appeals, the Government
Accountability Office, state courts and administrative
boards. We are also experienced in alternative dispute
resolution procedures, including international arbitration with the
International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). Our breadth of
experience makes us aware of the likely motivations of both sides
in contracting disputes and informs the way we develop and execute
effective strategies to resolve these matters.
