Sovereign Debt
Following a near-collapse of the global debt
markets and the subsequently seismic shifts in monetary policies
around the world, issuers and underwriters of sovereign debt
continue to contend with serious aftershocks. With experience in
sovereign debt offerings throughout Europe, Latin America and
numerous emerging markets, SNR Denton lawyers are extremely fluent
in challenges that these markets pose and adept at accommodating
the nuances in these geographies. We partner with clients to
structure transactions that balance economic opportunity with risk
mitigation.
We have a strong track record of advising
sovereign and sub-sovereign bond issuers and supra-national
organizations in the international capital markets. For
example, we advised the Government of Ghana on its US$750 million
debut international sovereign bond issue. This issue won the
2007 Emerging Market Bond of the Year and the Eastern Europe,
Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) Bond of the Year (2007) at the 2008
International Financing Review Awards. We have has also recently
advised the initial purchasers in relation to the recent US$300
million bond issue by The Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
Our niche is advising sovereigns and
supranationals in emerging markets. We have established a
strong presence in the Middle East and Africa unmatched by any
other international law firm. We are the largest law firm in
the Middle East and the only international law firm with offices in
all the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. We also
have the largest network of African associates of any international
law firm. We remain unsurpassed in our experience and
dedication to the continent, having worked there for decades.
We have also acted for sovereign issuers in South and Latin America
and continental Europe.
