Trade and Export Finance
Global trade continues to grow at a rapid pace
despite the current economic malaise afflicting many markets. This
is due to the insulated nature of the industry coupled with the
recent increase in available credit. This flourishing in
global trade is expected to continue well into the next year
with continued expansion in developing nations including
Africa, CIS, Latin America and Southeast Asia. This is due in part
to the WTO and OECD’s pledge to undertake development projects
within the regions identified.
SNR Denton is at the leading edge of
international trade and export finance, acting for banks,
development banks, export credit agencies, traders, exporters and
other market players. Our international team has extensive
experience in trade and export finance transactions particularly in
the emerging markets - Africa, Asia, Latin America, Central and
Eastern Europe, the CIS and the Middle East. We advise on the
key laws governing most trade-related transactions, including in
particular, English, New York and French law. We also have the
capability to advise on local law in each of the jurisdictions in
which we operate. Where we do not operate we have good friend
relationships with local law firms that can provide such
advice.
With such a depth of commercial knowledge, we are well equipped
to deal with issues arising from changes in the markets, such as
privatization, the onset of competition, the imposition of
sanctions, the opening up of closed jurisdictions and increasing
securitization of trade finance receivables.
