Elmer Doonan

Elmer initially qualified as a Barrister and then went on to
head up a legal education company, lecturing in the UK and
internationally. Elmer has specialized in pensions law since 1990
and is ranked as one of the UK's leading pensions law experts by
Legal 500 and Chambers. He advises both pension scheme trustees and
employers on pension matters. He has particular expertise in
advising on pension scheme funding issues and section 75 debt
liabilities arising from employer restructuring or insolvency. He
has advised on pensions aspects in some of the UK's most complex
restructuring and insolvency related pensions matters. Elmer also
has wide experience in advising employers and trustees on issues
arising out of winding up pension schemes or entry into the Pension
Protection Fund. He has been involved in numerous contentious
pensions matters and is a member of the Association of Pension
Lawyers pensions litigation committee. Elmer is also a Director of
the firm's corporate independent trustee. He is a member of the UK
Association of Pension Lawyers.
