Pipeline Transportation and Storage
Our energy team comprises more than 100
lawyers covering all types of energy-related work, ranking it among
the largest dedicated energy legal practices in the world. The team
has extensive experience advising energy businesses on all types of
oil and gas projects and facilities. This experience has been
built up over 60 years through oil and gas regulatory and
project related work in the US, Europe, the Middle East, CIS
and Africa. Many of our lawyers have worked in-house for energy
companies, either before joining us or while on secondment, giving
our team a unique understanding of the oil and gas industry
and the ability to deliver industry-based solutions in a timely and
focused manner.
We have broad experience in national and
international pipeline projects. In the US we served as counsel in
connection with all aspects of the construction and operation of a
1,100-mile crude pipeline. We drafted the agreements governing the
operation of the onshore gas transmission and distribution
systems in the UK, where we act for National Grid, and
Northern Ireland, where we act for Phoenix Natural Gas. We have
also advised on offshore oil and gas pipeline arrangements in the
North Sea, the Middle East and in Africa.
In relation to UK gas storage projects, our experience is
unique. We advised BG on the arrangements for the first
two UK gas storage projects at Rough and Hornsea, and we drafted
the standard form gas storage agreement currently in use in the UK.
We have advised a number of clients, including RWE, EDF and Statoil
on different UK gas storage projects. Current work includes
advising Centrica Storage on its Baird Field gas storage project
and Storengy, a GDF subsidiary, on its onshore gas project at
Stubblach.
